A home theater is a great addition to your home but it doesn't mean having to dedicate a room to movie seats and a projector. We have built many great theaters in basements, attics, bonus rooms, living rooms and even a spare bedroom!
Do I have to have a projector?
A projector is a great way to get a really large image. Properly calibrated in a light controlled room they will give the closest thing to the movie theater experience. There are some downsides though. You need to have some sort of light control or you will limit the amount of time you can see a usable image. Ideally the room should be painted dark, including the ceiling and you do have the projector on the ceiling and the screen on the wall - though there are retractable options for both.
Large screen TV's are a great choice for your home theater/media room. They don't have the same environmental restrictions a projection system has and can provide a great image in most indoor conditions.
What about the sound?
The part that doesn't get enough attention is the audio. The impact of a good movie or TV soundtrack can't be overlooked. It builds tension or adds excitement. It is fundamental to drawing you into the program. Expectation and aesthetics (and physics!) are the determining factors as to what type of audio system is best for your application.
A well designed theater or media room will take all of these and many other factors into account. Call us to find out more about our audio and video installation services.
